Employee in a high-risk workplace
EMPLOYEE SAFETY PLATFORM
Indoor positioning · Critical alerts · GDPR-compliant
< 1 second
to alert the entire building.

SafeBeacon gives organisations a modern panic alert platform for high-risk workplaces. Employees wear a physical panic button built into their issued ID-badge. One press — discreet, immediate, no phone to unlock — sends a Critical Alert to every colleague in the building, bypassing silent mode, and shows responders the exact room and floor. Always on the employee. Always within reach.

How it works

Existing solutions fail
when it matters most.

Employees in hospitals, social services offices, schools, and child welfare agencies face violence every day. The tools they have don't match the reality they work in.

FAILURE 1

Fixed panic buttons
are out of reach.

Wall-mounted devices work only when the employee is standing next to one. Incidents don't happen on schedule. SafeBeacon's answer: the panic button lives on the employee's ID-badge — worn at all times, reachable in any situation, without needing to find a phone.

FAILURE 2

GPS can't locate people
inside buildings.

Mobile GPS apps can't determine which floor or room someone is in. "Third floor, Building B" is not enough information to send help to the right place.

Silent

SafeBeacon — entire building alerted with room-level position

Three roles.
One seamless response.

From the moment an employee feels unsafe to the moment help arrives — SafeBeacon handles the entire chain automatically.

1

Employee triggers the alarm

The employee presses the physical button on their BLE-connected ID-badge — the same badge they wear every day. No phone to unlock, no app to open, no PIN. The badge communicates via Bluetooth to the paired iPhone in their pocket. A 2-second hold prevents accidental triggers.

2

BLE beacons provide room-level location

Bluetooth beacons mounted in the building calculate the employee's position on-device. No raw signals ever leave the phone. The server only learns the room and floor when an alarm is triggered.

3

Everyone who needs to know is notified instantly

Responders see a live map with the exact location. Nearby colleagues receive a Critical Alert — bypassing silent mode and Do Not Disturb — so they can barricade and take cover before the threat reaches them.

🚨

Why Critical Alerts matter for colleagues: When an alarm triggers, nearby employees must immediately barricade themselves, lock their doors, and take cover to avoid becoming secondary victims. A notification silenced during a patient consultation is indistinguishable from no notification at all. Critical Alerts bypass this — guaranteed delivery regardless of device state.

Built for real emergencies.

Every feature exists because someone in a real workplace needed it — not because it looked good in a demo.

🪪

Physical panic button on the ID-badge

The panic button is built into the employee's issued ID-badge. It connects via Bluetooth to the paired iPhone — no phone to unlock, no app to open. Always on the employee, always within reach. Long-press guard prevents accidental triggers.

📍

Indoor positioning

Room-level accuracy via Bluetooth beacons. Trilateration runs entirely on-device — raw BLE signals never leave the phone.

🔔

Critical Alerts

Bypasses Do Not Disturb, Focus modes, and the ringer switch. Every recipient hears the alarm, regardless of device state.

🗺️

Live dispatcher view

Real-time indoor map showing the incident location with a blinking marker. Floor plan and room name visible instantly.

📱

Live Activity

Incident status on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island throughout the response — no need to unlock the phone.

📋

Automatic incident log

Every event is timestamped and logged automatically — ready for health and safety reporting, insurance claims, and inspections.

🔐

End-to-end encrypted building maps

Floor plans and beacon positions are E2EE — the server stores only ciphertext. A compromised server reveals nothing about the building layout.

🛡️

Incident mode for first responders

A restricted app view administrators can hand to police or security — showing only the active incident, map, and positions. Biometrically locked.

GDPR-compliant by design

No background tracking, no movement history. Position data exists on the server only during an active incident. Architecture reviewed for GDPR Art. 25 compliance.

Honest about what
we can and can't see.

SafeBeacon is built for the Norwegian public sector, where data protection officers, union representatives, and safety officers scrutinise deployments carefully. The architecture reflects that.

No background tracking

Position never leaves the device in normal operation.

The app calculates location locally using Bluetooth signals. Position data never leaves the phone unless a panic event is actively triggered. There is no movement log, no history, and no passive monitoring. This is an architectural decision — it cannot be changed without a visible software update.

Data stays in Norway

All storage and processing on Azure Norway East.

Primary storage runs in Microsoft Azure Norway East — ISO 27001, ISO 27018, ISO 27701, SOC 2 certified. Data does not leave the EEA in normal operation. The only third-party that receives data outside Norway is Apple Push Notification service (APNs), which receives only an anonymous device token — no personal information.

Honest about encryption

We don't claim E2EE for things that aren't E2EE.

Account information (name, email, phone) is encrypted at rest with AES-256 but server-readable, as required for routing alerts. Building maps and floor plans are end-to-end encrypted — the server stores only ciphertext. We are precise about which fields are E2EE and which are not.

Authentication

OAuth2 with PKCE. Passwords as Argon2 hashes only.

The PKCE code verifier never leaves the device — a compromised network cannot capture the session. Passwords are never stored in plaintext. Access tokens are short-lived; refresh tokens are stored in Azure Key Vault, not on disk.

Doctors' Offices & Outpatient Clinics

GPs · Specialists · Administrative staff · Practitioners in small, low-staffed settings

🏛️

Social Services & NAV Offices

Caseworkers · Benefits advisors · Front-line staff handling disputes and crises

👶

Child Welfare Agencies

Bufetat residential staff · Field caseworkers · Institutional care personnel — highest-risk category in Norwegian public sector

🏫

Schools & Universities

Teachers · Administrative staff · 72% of Norwegian primary school teachers experienced threats or violence in 2025 — up from 33% in 2018

🏢

Lone Workers & Public-Facing Roles

Property management · Retail · Local government offices · Any workplace where staff face unpredictable public interaction

Enterprise-managed.
Not a consumer app.

SafeBeacon is designed for controlled, IT-approved deployment — not a free download anyone can pick up.

Apple Business Manager & MDM

Distributed through Apple Business Manager only.

SafeBeacon is not available on the public App Store. It is distributed exclusively as a Custom App through Apple Business Manager, deployed via MDM to organisation-managed devices. Each deployment is a deliberate, IT-approved decision — employees are briefed on the system as part of onboarding, and the Critical Alert permission is a documented component of the organisation's safety infrastructure.

Invisible on public App Store
IT-controlled distribution via MDM
Only accessible to contracted organisations
Access revoked automatically at contract end
Employees briefed before deployment
No consumer or personal use case
